There's a new warning on the confirmation:

To avoid penalty, you MUST cancel before showtime if you cannot attend. Enjoy your FREE ticket(s) courtesy of fans who have paid it forward!

Does Atom actually charge a penalty now?

They give out the free tickets to juice their box office numbers so as to encourage theatre chains to dedicate screens to their films. So you're helping their efforts whether you sit through their screenings or not. The movie chains are happy whenever any customer goes through the turnstiles as they make their money off of the overproduced food and drinks anyways. So the only people actually hurt by what you're doing are the producers of the films you're choosing to watch. They get no revenue from the box office and their turnstile numbers look that much worse when they're shopping their movies around for screens.

So you're actively helping Angel succeed, while hurting the companies who are producing the films you actually want to watch.

Good job there, champ. LMAO
Point well made!
(For that food and drinks sentence, you meant overpriced, not "overproduced".)
And yes, the theater makes the most profit at the concession stand. I imagine that poster may have ways of dealing with that aspect as well, being a slick dealer. I know I do.

TBH, that person is saving $$$. This is SD. Any trickle-down long-term cons won't outweigh their personal savings. I understand their perspective and don't blame them for working the system to their advantage.

I get tickets for every free movie and never go. I'll let you know if they ever penalize me.

Thanks! I got these tickets and will instead see Downton Abbey. I love all these free Angel movies. I've never sat through one, but I've gotten to see tons of free stuff using the tickets. My theaters don't have assigned seating, so it's no problem. I don't mind letting the fundies pay for my tickets as long as I don't have to sit through that propaganda.

Prob most theaters will let you exchange tickets for free so you will actually be fully legit? I remember when Kia had free tickets with test drive but i would just return it and made a few bucks!

Interesting for this movie...in the rules they say you cannot exchange for another movie and specifically outlaws all the ways to get out of this movie. My theater has specific seating, so per poptorts, if I just go sit in another movie, I would have to guess at which seats were not sold/open otherwise I risk continually being booted out of my seat. The theater for this movie is very small -- it looks like a total of like 20-30 seats! So it would be noticed if there are empty-sold seats.

I love Christian movies. They have such a positive message. It was either that or the movie HIM.

This is the first time I've seen a warning saying there's a penalty for not showing up. But they don't say what the penalty is if you don't show -- so that doesn't seem quite legal.

This 'Senior' movie preview doesn't seem that good. I was going to get tickets and then decide to go, but with the warning & this particular movie being meh, I didn't even go through with completely free tickets!! A 59 year old overweight/out-of-shape guy playing college football? That seems like a medical liability no college would take.

That's why the key word is NEW.

Last month with Light of the world tickets, it stated in the confirmation:

"Enjoy your Free Ticket(s). If you cannot attend, please cancel before the showtime"

But in today's confirmation for this movie, it specifically says MUST,

"To avoid penalty, you MUST cancel before showtime if you cannot attend. Enjoy your FREE ticket(s) courtesy of fans who have paid it forward!"
