The new one is still all metal, not sure the vendor but looks different. https://shop.tesla.com/product/us...95188-10-A

This looks to have solid performance. Multiple Amazon reviewers posted write scores in the 110+ MB/s range for the 256GB size and report lower write speeds of 60+ for the 128GB size.

these are great. super durable being metal casing instead of plastic, fast transfer unlike other brands like SanDisk, etc. even when the USB end bent, able to easily bend back to fit into PC

Quick question. Why does this say USB 3.1 in the Amazon title, but under Hardware Interface, just below the color choice thumbnails, it says 3.2 Gen1? Thanks.

Also, many user reviews said this is a tight fit. I hate USB drives that fit like that. If I buy this, I'll get a male to female USB cable do I don't ruin (or feel like I'll ruin) my ports. Look at some of the Amazon review photos. Scratches where it inserts seem to form easily and are visible, especially on the Gray color.

These drives are fast but they degrade fast.

It's probably been sold as both. It doesn't matter, they're effectively the same interface. Yes, they are an extremely tight fit, one of the worst I've seen.

I have a 128GB silver and a 256GB Gray for over a year, use them everyday for various things, they work great but the silver one seems to get hot in my Windows PC after heavy use. Extremely reliable and fast read/wrtie compare to similar priced models. You can put a small lanyard on the end to make it easier to remove.

"Sustained Writes on the drive range from 30MB/s to 65MB/s."

from a reviewer who actually understands the 100MB size test on CrystalDiskMark doesn't mean much. I appreciate the effort others make posting CDM screenshots but if they'd only take ten minutes to run the test with a larger size.

Not bad for a drive at this capacity and cost.

Edit: Found one on B&M, somebody ran the 8GB test. Got write speed around 57 MB/s on the 128gb model. I think I'll get one.

Thanks, bought one in black. I bought the 256 GB silver version last month for $21.99 and like some reviews show it is faster than typical flash drives. It is a tighter fit too as mentioned, probably because the part that goes into the port is a part of the body, thicker than the thin sheet metal part used in typical connectors. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad but the limited use so far hasn't caused any noticeable damage to my OP LP1 laptop.

EDIT: One thing I've done with it so far is install Ventoy and restored a Macrium image of a Windows 10 OS to a NVME drive. It worked without issues and seemed to be reasonably fast for a flash drive.

I bought several of these direct from Samsung a while back when they had a good price. They work fine but they are a tight fit and can be difficult to insert and remove from the USB ports on PCs. It can take a fair amount of force to insert them in and then remove them after.
I was thinking about that when I saw the design

They work but check your speeds after a while. They known to significantly slow down. Just check the neg reviews
Never heard of that issue, but I just checked my oldest (purchased jul 2019) and it's still just as fast as when new. These are still my top pick for a small, durable USB drive.

I have one of these. The write speed slowed down to almost nothing after a couple of years. It hasn't completely died but the deterioration of write performance doesn't inspire confidence. Runs very hot too. For my application the snug connection is a plus.

For anyone wondering, this works perfectly with the 2019 Tesla Model X Raven. Popped it in and format the drive within the car settings then it will work right away.
