FYI, this is the same usb drive Tesla (used to) use in their car. The metal design has better chance to survive and save the evidence footage in a car crash.

I have this drive from BestBuy and it works for my Blink video doorbell hub for about a year and it has worked great so far.

I'd watch for fakes from Amazon as they are likely mixed in with the real ones.

I bought several of these direct from Samsung a while back when they had a good price. They work fine but they are a tight fit and can be difficult to insert and remove from the USB ports on PCs. It can take a fair amount of force to insert them in and then remove them after.

I have a few of these at work. They're quick and super durable - almost too durable. The pointy edges can get you sitting down on a hard surface! 😲

From my experience, Samsung flash drives last longer than sandisk and PNY.

I just had one Samsung flash drive with disk error with 7 years of heavy usage.
Sandisk with the same condition would fail in 3 to 5 years.

BTW, I paid $18 for this drive last October. So far there is no issue.

Usually, when these drives are on sale at Amazon, they are the same price on the Samsung site, and you can use your military/first responder/education discount to make it cheaper.

Edit: Just checked Samsung and only 20 cents cheaper......but probably a low chance it is fake.

Some 256GB external SSDs don't cost much more and give you much faster write speeds than this. What of the advantage of using a flash drive instead of a small SSD?

They work but check your speeds after a while. They known to significantly slow down. Just check the neg reviews

It's tiny and can easily slip into a coin pocket or attach to keys. It really just depends on your needs. I wouldn't use my flash drive if I needed to transfer 200GB of data on a daily basis, but for most normal use cases the flash drive is more convenient and gets way more use than my external SSDs do.

This is the flash drive to get if you want something rugged, fast and reliable. I use these for large file transfers, long-term use scenarios, and I keep one in my work gear as a backup. They're not comfy in your pocket and they're a bit oversized, so insertion and removal is a bit difficult. I just bought a 128GB the other day.

If you want a cheap drive for data you aren't going to cry about when the drive dies, the PNY Attache drives are like $5 each. They aren't as fast and they will fail on you eventually. Sometimes they last quite a while for me, though. I keep them in my work gear for loaners or gifts when a client needs one.
