I was one of those who bought a refurbished unit in the promotion a few days ago. My experience was bad, the unit arrived with clear cosmetic wear and tear, and the BIOS does not retain any changes if you disconnect the board from the power supply for 5 minutes or more (a common error in the first batch of these boards). I know this is new, but the quality process of this brand seems to be very mediocre/bad.
The warranty process is slow...Even so, I like this product.

Did you get a replacement or at least have they started the process?

Yes, it's in progress. They respond to emails the next day, so they take their time.

The X3D model was released a lot after the original. Didn't heard any issues regarding that motherboard not retaining power. Hopefully the have rectified it in all later models.

I bought a few minisforum first batches and they have always been huge disappointments. I had a similar issue with one minipc and never got around to doing an RMA. I ended up swapping the CMOS battery and that resolved everything. I then did the same for a few others and that resolved a lot of issues. Doesn't excuse the poor qc but at least it was an easy fix.

I have the non-x3d version. It sucks to use with a GPU.

That was the first thing I did, replace the battery, but it didn't work.

It's a laptop processor soldered onto an iTX motherboard.

These are a bit of an odd duck.

AMD takes the desktop X3D chip crams it into a mobile platform but the price on those ends up being low enough that it makes sense for Minisforum to take that mobile chip and stick it on a custom desktop board and sell it. The closest desktop CPU is the 7950x3D and it is $675 on pc part picker for just the CPU. The mobile versions of the chips are usually a little limited on clock speeds and ram speeds and the motherboard is basically an A series desktop motherboard with primarily the I/O that can be driven directly from the CPU but the cost is hard to ignore. CPU and motherboard for ~$200 less than the CPU alone. Especially since ITX MBs typically demand a price premium.
