more than good enough for ps5 but that heatsink is likely to be too tall to fit. and they really arnt removable. usually they are glued down with thermal epoxy or something like that.

Are heatsinks actually useful for SSDs?

The drive will work, but you will have to also buy a low profile heatsink for it as I think the one that comes with it is too tall to fit in a PS5.

The Samsung 990 Pro 2TB is currently only $159.99 with heatsink at Samsung.com [samsung.com] (it is the same price at other places, but make sure they are including the heatsink as some stores charge extra for it). The heatsink that comes with the 990 Pro is PS5 compliant and thus can be installed directly into the PS5.

BTW, though the T700 is crazy fast, it is only crazy fast if you put it in a PCIe 5.0 m.2 slot. The PS5 m.2 slot only supports PCIe 4.0, so the extra speed is a total waste.

All Gen 4/5 SSDs will throttle under heavy use due to the heat they generate. The heatsink just basically helps it last longer before it throttles.

So yes, they help (presuming they have a thermal pad and are properly installed).

Fantastic drive, great micron quality.... Dram pricing is going higher everyday now and even higher through the next few months along with much higher Nand prices!
