I had one of these for awhile. If there was pretty much any light breeze it would cause the umbrella to swing around and tilt, making it impractical to use. I ended up getting a few ropes to anchor it to deck railing and such to get a bit of use from it but ended up reselling. Neat idea, but just far too unstable.

I have a similar one, these cheap ones have plastic locking mechanism and crank. It's super easy to snap if you do things in an incorrect sequence by accident.
