A DisplayPort Headless Ghost Display Emulator, or "dummy plug,"
Plugs into a computer's DisplayPort to trick the operating system into detecting a connected display, even when no physical monitor is present.
This allows the computer's GPU to be fully enabled for tasks like high-resolution remote desktop access, video rendering, and cryptocurrency mining,
which would otherwise be disabled or limited.

Would something like this allow me to have a micro pc up on the shelf by my router, but not need a monitor up there to operate it?
Depends on the use case; for the most part you shouldn't need a display attached to do things (e.g. running an X server, hosting dedicated game servers, serving home audio).

Someone with 4 servers could use 4 of these.

I was going to suggest the same software. I use it for a virtual 4K120 HDR display that I use for streaming applications and it works perfectly.

I use mine on my media center, which isn't connected to any monitor (or keyboard/mouse etc) and provides its content over the network.
Without the headless dongle, the OS won't process the GUI desktop environment properly, so I can't even remote into it and manage it or the contents.

This is a pretty good deal. Typically a single is $6ish and 2 pack $10ish. So 4 for $6 is remarkable.

Do you use Zoom/Teams/Webex/etc and Powerpoint together? If not this might not make a lot of sense, but...

Powerpoint has a "presenter" mode, where it shows your presentation on one monitor, and on the other shows you other stuff, like your notes, which slide it next, the ability to browse all slides and jump around, etc.

When you're presenting in a room with a protector/etc, this works great as you show the main screen on the big screen (which is configured as a 2nd monitor on your laptop), and the presenter view on your laptop screen. But when you're on a Zoom/Teams/Webex meeting, and you don't have a second screen, then you pretty much can't do this (There are ways to make it work, but they are complex and break frequently).

That's where this device comes in. It gives your laptop a 2nd screen. You "present" on that screen, and then you share that screen in Zoom so that's what everyone else on the zoom sees. You can then use presenter mode on your laptop screen.

As someone that loves Powerpoint presentor mode, but doesn't travel with a 2nd monitor, these things are great! I travel with multiple of them, because generally when people see me using them and I explain what they are they want one, so I give them away (at $2 each it's not like they are expensive!)

Well, from what I've seen its $10 for 2. So normal price for 4 would be $20. This deal is $14 off, or 70%. So decent deal.
Its all contingent on if you need 4 and the scales of economy of that. But seeing as if you only need 1 you'd be spending this anyways, so good deal regardless.

Kinda. The virtual drivers work great in my experience but doesn't get past the BIOS/UEFI on some systems that require intervention if a display is not found at boot/POST. I have one system that just beeps at me if no display is found so no OS to load a virtual driver.

There are also some computers, including many MiniPC, that will not boot correctly w/o monitor attach. People will sometime want convert such computer into a headless server. This can trick them into thinking that the computer has the monitor connected. Depend of the work type you want to be careful between choosing 1080p and 4k dummy headless plug as it's not always ideal have dummy 4k. Imagine you need to later swap out that dummy plug and connect actual monitor on it or even remote login for diagnostic purpose. For such purpose 1080p dummy plug may even be more ideal than 4k.

Curious if this will work on LogMEin, so it shows it's has (2) 27" monitors? Right now the PC that is getting remoted in-to, has to have matching monitors if you want matching -remote displays.
