Is this good for catfish? Is this better than braided?

60# test is 60# test whether braid or mono. Braid has a smaller line diameter at every strength, so you can put more braid on your reels than mono. I like braid for spinning reels but mono for bigger conventionals, because it's impossible to untangle braid if you get a backlash. Mono stretches a bit, so offers some shock absorption qualities, but Braid is better against abrasion from fish or rocks. I don't really fish for catfish, and don't know what is preferred. I would guess either would be fine for catfish, but I doubt you want 60#, but I really don't know. The bigger the line diameter, the less line you can put on your reels, but that may not be an issue with catfish.

You don't want to spool this onto a reel unless your reel is huge. 60 lb mono is pretty thick. 60 lb braid will be much smaller so that you can fit it onto a reel easier. People use 60# braid pretty commonly for targeting trophy catfish 30+ lbs, but you can get away with a lot less if there's not much structure or current to pull them from

Very good overview, but the abrasion resistance thing is something that I always see mixed views on. I've heard more that mono has more abrasion resistance, especially at the same # test. This makes sense to me because if you drag a knife across braid and mono, I'd imagine it'd take quite bit more force to go through the mono, whereas even very light pressure for something sharp could cut heavy braid
