I use google home, thus far it seems to connect to everything...thus.....far
We have a bunch of these in an IoT channel and they're great. The Tapo app is also pretty good. They also work fine through the Samsung Smarthings app, which we also use for TV/sound bar.
Great price compared to what I paid a few months ago at $33. The energy monitoring is solid and the primary reason I bought these to help set certain electronic on a power schedule. The app is easy to use, at least on iOS, and the setup isn't too hard. However, as other said, you'll definitely want these on a guest network/isolated network from your regular clients. Otherwise, these are great.

Yes, it's called Home Assistant. None of the other answers follow your FOSS requirement, and are closed, big tech cloud ecosystems.

I can expose my Wemos (soon to be RIP) to matter via homeassistant integration, buying these just in case Belkin tells us we're SOL come Jan.
The Tapos would still need to connect to homeassistant via a third party integration in HA that supports TP-Link TAPO, but downstream of HA, it's pretty flexible.
