This is my most used grill. It can do nearly everything its bigger cousins can. high temp searing and grilling. low and slow smoking. It takes less time to start up and uses less charcoal than bigger grills.

Its weather proof. It can cook a pork shoulder, whole chicken, or chuck roast in the middle of winter with no problem. If you get the soapstone, it can cook pizzas.

Only reason I use the bigger grill is when i need the extra space (ribs, brisket, etc). One drawback is that its heavy due to the ceramic, so not really portable. Check out the Akorn Jr if that's your goal.

Great price on a great grill.

13.5in cooking space? You have to really not care about money, to pay $500, or even $250 to get any kind of grill, that small.
The average kettle grill has a 22" cooking space. With a grill this small, you might fit 4 burgers on it.
It looks like a nice grill, just know you aren't cooking for more than 2 people on it.

The MSRP of Joe Jr® with Cast Iron Stand is $499.99 at Kamadojoe.com, is this a special model that has a MSRP of $640 before the discount?

Is this grill that much better than the char-griller akorn jr (which is significantly less)?

They preform pretty much the same. Longevity probably goes to the kamado since akorn will rust out on you.

Agree. Had the Akorn jr. for about 6 years until the ash tray rusted out.

And that was two years ago. Very good chance you won't see $194 again. Good luck waiting.

True, we certainly will not see it for $194 again. That is when I got one and still well worth the $250-300

I've been using the Kamado Joe Classic III 18" for three years now—it's a fantastic grill with plenty of space, especially great when friends come over for weekend cookouts. That said, I realized early on that it's a bit much for just two people. I recently added the 13.5" model to my setup, and it's perfect for everyday use! It heats up faster, uses less charcoal, and is ideal for quick weekday meals. Highly recommend it for couples or small households looking for convenience without sacrificing quality.

Great snag on the membership! Mind sharing how you got the promo code or link?

Interesting, I've been using my 22.5" Weber for years now and couldn't imagine going much smaller. The meat would fit just fine, but I usually have some vegetable baskets and a packet of potatoes or beats tossed on as well. I also like the ability to have different zones of heat, including directly over the coals, just off the coals, etc.
