Bikes where the motor assists above 28mph are Class 4 "off road" e-bikes, which are forbidden from sidewalks, paths or roads. A few states will let licensed riders use roads.

Check your state laws around e-bikes, mopeds and motorcycles.

https://bikexchange.com/electric-bike-classes/

This bike lists a 32mph max speed. Some states (i.e. Michigan) say any 2-wheeled contrivance that can get over 30mph on motor power is a motorcycle that requires license, registration, insurance and a helmet to operate.

California has increased enforcement with San Diego impounding bikes. NYC has a 15mph bike speed limit, and a chicago suburb has made it illegal to operate e-bikes in public streets without a license.

Anyone who would normally be cautious around their local law enforcement should think really hard about this as an "e-dirt bike" may qualify as "reasonable cause". If you don't know why I added that, the comment isn't for you.

I didn't see anything in the description either, but if you read through the reviews a "large man" mentioned the peddle assist.

Yes, pedal assist with cadence sensor. And throttle control in case you don't want to pedal.

NYC just lowered pedal assist bikes to 15mph (down from 18mph) but I believe throttle is still good to go up to 25mph. I wouldn't mind limiting myself to 25 and keeping extra power in reserve.

No, its 15mph across the board in bike lanes, applying to equally to scooters and bike-type vehicles regardless of how you use it. Go 25mph and risk getting a ticket.

https://www.nyc.gov/mayors-office...-bikes-and

Do it on this bike, which states it can do 32mph and in NYC is a Class A "limited use motorcycle (30-40mph)" which requires registration, helmet, drivers license, lighting, and insurance and the NYPD could add on tickets for using an unregistered, uninsured vehicle. Which they may also sieze and not return.

https://dmv.ny.gov/registration/r...ycle-moped

Except that this probably can't be registered as I doubt the manufacturer has included a VIN. Which would make it an e-bike that is not street legal. I base that on this:

https://comptroller.nyc.gov/repor...20returned.
Quote :
Mopeds must have a vehicle identification number (VIN) and a license plate. Riders are required to register their vehicles with the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and hold a valid New York State driver's license in order to operate them. Unlicensed or non-legal mopeds can be seized and not returned.
.....
Electric bikes that provide motorized assistance at speeds above 25 mph are not street-legal; as with non-legal mopeds, they can be seized and not returned.
So maybe get an ebike that only does 20mph and avoid the potential hassle/jail time if you live in those states. I saw a couple posted in other threads.

How is it that the link you provided is cheaper than the Aliexpress? That's gotta be fake.
