Don't get these and instead get Amazon rechargeable AAs that have a capacity of 2000mah. Advertised as being rechargeable 1000 times.

Cost a dollar a battery for the $16 pack. Even the high capacity 2400mah can be bought for roughly a dollar or even less a battery if you get a good deal.

Don't laugh at me but can rechargeable batteries use any brand charger?

I've used the Amazon batteries, and they don't last for as many charges as other brands. The Rayovac's do have a low mah, but I would spend more on either eneloop or Laddas from Ikea to get a higher mah than the Rayovac and much higher quality than the Amazon.

Consider that these are 'special use' AA for things that get used/cycled heavily and 'abused' a lot (solar lights, constantly charging portable phones and the like ).
There is an inverse relationship between capacity and longevity. Eneloop Pros/2450mAh, don't last nearly as well as Eneloop regular/2000mAh.
AA that are like 2800mAh don't do well at all over time-limited aging and cycle life.
I've got Rayovac AA that are over 12 years old and still work OK. BUT, I SERIOUSLY doubt that modern Rayovac are evenly remotely related to the old ones. .

The Japanese made batteries have always been high quality, in my experience.

These are made in China. But their relatively low capacity makes me think they'll fare far better than high capacity Chinese made batteries, which tend to overstate their capacity and often seem to die well before hitting their claimed number of charges.

Eneloop and Ikea Laada tend to be easy to find and Japanese made.

YMMV and all that.

Japanese made Panasonic enloops and IKEA laddas are much better. These shitty rayovac and Amazon generics are made in china and horrible. some dont charge, some lose charge within days, some leak, the forum complaints are crazy. Avoid chinese batteries in general.

1350 mah is lower than most, BUT Rayovac is a brand name and I trust they'd stand behind their 5 year guarantee. I have other rayovac rechargeables that have been working fine for years, nothing bad to say about them.

Throwing in my usual comment, so take with as much of a grain of salt as you like. These batteries, and the cheap Amazon batteries are fine if you use them for light duty things. I use mine for tv/universal remotes, game controllers, wireless keyboards/mice, kids toys, things like that. Things that I'm not staking my life on. Flashlights if I'm going camping for example. You know that old saying: "Everything has its place"

Smart door lock? Those seem to eat batteries like nothing.

I have a Yale smart lock and use EBL's. I swap them out every 6 months or so. https://a.co/d/3liQo2z

A very good question sir. Yes, but make sure you use the right charger for the right "chemical" type of battery (e:g: Lead-Acid (used in cars and golf carts), Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd, old tech), Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), Lithium-Ion (Li-ion), Nickel-Zinc (NiZn, rare)

Technically no. There are currently 4 different types of rechargeable AAs that are commonly available. NiMH (1.2V, these), NiCd (1.2V, used in older devices), rechargeable alkalines (1.5V, mostly phased out because maintenance was annoying) and lithium (1.5V, the latest technology). While NiMH and NiCds can generally use the same charger, alkalines and lithiums cannot. They need chargers specifically designed for them.

That said, many advanced models can automatically sense the battery type and adjust the charge accordingly. The highly rated EBL PD4, for example, can charge every type of AA battery. It also has a test function as well a the ability to revive over-discharged batteries. Got it for $12.99 on sale at Amazon.
