i purchased it and then canceled it from my local best buy just now because i read the reviews. this machine in particular has a literal metric ton of display QC and nvidia driver issues. not worth IMO.

I believe this is the one with the bad screen. People keep returning it and the next person gets it and returns it again lol. Great deal if it wasn't for the screen.

This is the one with the bad screen. Just purchased this prior to this posting. You will have to do some work to try to fix the driver issues and there is no guarantee that will work, but worth the investment if it does.

I was able to pick up an Open-Box Good for $958. I've read about the issues about the screen. Some people said updates have fixed it. I decided to take a chance.

So far, it's been good. No screen issues. It was barebones with only the laptop and charger, both in excellent condition. I haven't updated any drivers yet. Windows Update wants to update tons of drivers. I'm gonna hide those with "show or hide updates" tool and update only with the official ones on MSI.

The main issue I read is people start experiencing issues when they update the AMD drivers from windows or AMD instead of from MSI. It messes with the GPU handoff between the AMD 880m and Nvidia 4070. Hence why hardware acceleration or waking from hibernation will cause garbled screen. MSI says to update the bios in tandem with their AMD drivers to fix the issue if one does have.

It's soldered in, so non-replaceable.

I also picked up a good impulsively during work on Thursday lol. I'm not even that versed in specs other than browsing Slickdeals laptops recently. Hope this is a good bang for the buck for a light gamer who is trying to stream some chill non AAA games while doing some light video recording/editing and occasionally need a laptop

Can't you just disable the igpu? Until the drivers get sorted only using the dgpu should solve the problem.

I got the one with the price, and the no-microphone issue was easily solved by reverting the AMD coprocessor driver to the 2024 version. Updated BIOS with MSI Center, everything works fine. The only drawback is that the 4070 performance is the same as my 2080 laptop.

That doesn't sound right at all. Is your charger plugged in and on "Best Performance" under the power profiles? I know there's an extreme power profile in the MSI Center.

Admittedly, I've only been play Destiny Rising through MuMu player at 120 fps as I haven't installed anything else.
