I will never get stoneware again. If you microwave it, it gets molten lava hot.

Made in China for anyone wondering. I buy plenty of things from China, but nothing I eat or drink from.

On the flip side though, this is why I prefer stoneware. Great for keeping your food hot throughout your meal! Just be careful with it like hot pots and pans!

Don't the black speckles fake you out that the dishes are dirty still after a dishwasher cycle? Man I'd be forever not sure if it's just the dish or hard stuck food pieces on these if I were to own them.

We all buy things made in China. Usually it isn't even a thought until someone brings it up. "Made in China" buyer beware! Nearly EVERYTHING the American consumer purchases is made in China.

These look very nice, but they chip easily, especially in shipping. We had to order 3 sets and swap pieces just to get a complete set. The edges are unglazed, so they feel rough especially with forks an knives resting on them. You get used to it.

Gee, you know me so well. Keyword being, "nearly." We can still buy lead-free dinnerware and cutlery that's made in the US. So I do that.

Short answer yes. FDA allegedly has regulations and checks on this but it's safe to assume that hardly everything gets checked, and geographic areas of mass production in China absolutely have problems with toxic emissions from factories causing lead contamination in their soil and groundwater. Tea leaves are, for example, something you certainly want to avoid getting from China (of which is often sourced from China for other popular drinks such as Kombucha).

Well that's good to know thank you. I'll have to do more research. I never buy food sourced from China but now I'm going to be even more diligent
