I'm looking for something like this, but it bothers me that there are only 2 reviews, and they are both vine reviews from around 2 years ago.

This may have an over heating issue. If you look at the assembly diagram, you are putting the thermal pad then a piece off metal then the top. There wont be any airflow and it will have poor thermal transfer to the top of the assembly.

Same but taking a chance since it's an easy return and I was going to buy a heatsink to use in the laptop anyways so for a couple dollars more I get the enclosure to use with the old drive I am uprading.

You're really better off with an enclosure where the lid is a heatsink rather than enclosures like this that airgap the drive. Even though this is aluminum, that's not good enough.

why not just spend a few more bucks and get a reputable well reviewed model? actually this comment could be put in most every thread on slickdeals. sometimes i think deal sites do more harm then good. they most certainly add more to landfills.

I hear ya, but the cheapskate in me knows that I'm going to likely use it once to clone a drive and then relegate it to a junk drawer indefinitely 😀

Almost double the price but at least it's a known brand: https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-NVMe...r=8-2&th=1
