This looks like a killer deal for a home server, correct me if I'm wrong.

If you want to do a cheap, last-gen build with budget parts like this, whether it's for light gaming, home office, or HTPC use, etc., I would think that you'd probably want an APU or CPU with integrated graphics. Just my two cents.

The cost of motherboard and a G series CPU would more than double the price. Someone can pick up a cheap power supply on Facebook market place and used GPU for the price of the 5600G

$129 for a B550M WiFi board + Ryzen 5500 + 500GB Gen4 SSD + Hyper 212 is a crazy good value if you're piecing together a budget AM4 build.

GPUs, even for light gaming are dirt cheap. But specifically to the "more server" side I've picked up lots like 2 nvidia quadro p400 for 40 bucks (meaning $20 a piece) years ago which are used in plex servers doing hardware transcoding. I have way too many cheap GPUs I've picked up on ebay just collecting dust. At this price adding one isn't a hindrance. And for even light gaming...? A dedicated GPU from even many generations ago will destroy your average APU or integrated graphics solution.

No integrated graphics on the 5500. Adding a discrete GPU to an always-on server doesn't make sense, although I suppose the GPU could be removed and run headless once configured, but a pain if BIOS access needed etc.

Crazy good value for a budget build. Even more so if you've got an old case and some ram laying around.

Pick up an nvidia 1080 for $100 on eBay if you're wanting to game, more than enough for modern gaming at 1080p.

Got this deal with an ASUS mouse about a week ago. This is a much better deal imo. Great to build a spare server/nas/plex

I'm not above a budget system, but wish they wouldn't include needless things like small-ish ssd and HS/fan (already have spares of both.) Much rather knock another $10 or even $20 off the price.
