I think this is the one with the leaking paste, but it might be a different brand card

Just one report of many
my 3080 was gigabyte and the heatsink was trash. it didn't make contact with the memory.. it kept throttling because of the high temps. i ended up buying a cnc milled copper plate that closed the gap and had to put pads on both sides for contact.
the sad part is, it made a fantastic improvement. if only the contact plate was designed properly in the first place. i would have saved $60 on an already expensive 3080.
no gpu over $500 should exhibit these strange issues. $2000 is absurdly inexcusable and really exposes their lack of quality control and ultimately their real motive: profits over everything, including reputation.
I'd stick with the fe or asus tuf if you want something on the cooler side. fe is peak design though, it'll get hotter but it's still within tolerances and arguably better binned chips because Nvidia gets first dibs. i think at this point, most of these chips should be fantastic as the process only improves over time. it pays to be a patient gamer.
