Chacos had a blow out sale on their Z slide model a few years ago. That shoe fell apart within 2 weeks and they offered 0 support.

No clue about this model, but I lost trust in the company after that.

YMMV, but that was my experience.

I generally love Chacos but the CushZ does not have the same stability, durability, or repairability of the traditional Chacos.

Chacos had a blow out sale on their Z slide model a few years ago. That shoe fell apart within 2 weeks and they offered 0 support.

Hopefully that's just a one off. Though it seems to be the general trend of most products - quality declining over time. I have a pair of both z1 and z2 that have lasted me years and look like they'll last many more to come.

Agreed. I've owned chacos for 20 years and not had any major issues. I had a sole come off one about 10 years ago but that was an easy fix.

I agree. It is described as for light urban walking and half the weight of the traditional Chacos that I have that actually have a vibram sole.

I'm sure this has been covered in many other Chaco "deals" over the past 15 years. But for those who don't already know, this company/brand coincidentally (or not) died during the Great Recession. You can easily tell the difference between authentic Chacos from 20 years ago versus today by whether it has a Vibram sole. My wife and I both had pairs that we wore the soles off of but loved. Sadly, I haven't been able to find a sandal brand since that compares. $35-$40 for a pair of sandals in 2025 isn't anything to complain about, but just know that the brand is a ghost of it's former self.
I wouldn't be surprised nor complain about lack of quality these days. If my "Made in the USA" New Balance are any indication, you need to spend $100+ for any clothing item to be made with care and quality in this globalized world of ours.
