Seems like it was largely just a proper update/optimization for modern systems. There are definitely a lot of refinements, but it is largely untouched from the original - quirks and all.

If you loved playing System Shock 2 back in the day and want to dip in for the memories, then this is for you. No need to build out a retro system to run the game, anymore!

But if you're the type that needs modern game design QoL features and... design logic, then maybe this is something to watch a stream of if you're curious.

Is the remaster actually a worthy remaster?

I remember my younger brother got the original SS when we were both in Middle School (he may have still been in Elementary School, and we were both scared $#!+less and we never finished it.

I've heard good things about it and there are apparently a lot of QOL changes that make the game more palatable for modern times. It's not a complete overhaul like the recent System Shock remake, so it will still look and play similarly to the original release.

They're adding (already added?) multiplayer co-op to it. That's a big plus in my book.

FWIW, I haven't been impressed with many of the recent Nightdive remasters (or remakes) they've been...fine but that is about it. IMO at least.

They also seem to get included in bundles from time to time, as much as I loved OG SS2, I'm probably going to hold off on this until I can get it much cheaper as I probably just play for an hour or two than get bored.

Regardless, thanks RepFree83 for posting!

how is controller support for this, specific to the PC version? I bought the first system shock remaster, and it's not playable with a controller- even after years of patches. there are some specific movements/bindings that force you to still use a keyboard.

I was waiting for this release just for controller support. It works fine but takes some time to adjust.
