Best Buy has Galaxy Z Fold 7 unlocked open boxes on sale starting at $1275 depending on storage size and condition. Obviously YMMV and completely depends on your local store availability. As with all Best Buy open boxes, I recommend checking the condition before purchasing. Often when there is accessories missing you can bargain with the store.

The excellent one is $1376, it's better to buy it new for $1599 with activation from Verizon (and cancellation) or $1614 unlocked without any activation from Samsung EDU/EPP

why is it better, if you can get it unlocked and even better if you are a total member, you get free warranty for 2 years?

because I would not trust a refurbished with a folding screen and I am not sure if Samsung would honor the one year one screen repair warranty with refurbished one. If it was much cheaper I'd try my luck with it but not for $200 less.

these are open box devices, not refurbished...also I got one today and it was in immaculate condition. only issue was the prior user did not reset factory reset, so I'm now getting it switched to another excellent condition device

Fold phones are the worse. Eventually the screen protector will fail and damage your screen. That is why they give you a free replacement for the 1st year.

this is tempting. never owned a fold phone but this one seems good. I don't way to spend 1800+ with taxes on a new one.

I'm months late but I'm here to say that's not how 'modern' folding phones work. And by 'modern', I mean made within the past 5+ years.

The Samsung fold 1 and 2 required a built-in screen protector to reinforce the plastic folding screen. Since the Fold 3, and since most manufacturer's first versions of the folding phone, you no longer need the inbuilt screen protector at all. It's still recommended because folding screens are not as hardy or scratch-resistant as normal sapphire/gorilla glass screens, but a failing screen protector is not what's going to cause issues with your phone.

That's not correct. On my fold phone dirt got into the area that was separating and ruined the screen.

Is it because you left the screen protector on even though it was already bubbling? The peeling screen protector will eventually pull the inner screen away from its adhesive backing, thus causing the middle crease area to deform and have that dreaded line of dead pixels.

Anyone using a Fold 3/4 or newer should replace or remove the screen protector as soon as you see it peeling in the middle. If you can keep the inner screen clean, the screen protector isn't necessary.

its funny. I'm still using my Samsung Z Fold 2 that I pre-ordered on release. Back in 2021 the screen protector on the inner screen bubbled. So I took it off. Even today the screen still works and looks just as it did when I got the device. HOWEVER. I did drop my device in 2024 and it landed on asphalt, hitting a corner. The front screen cracked across the top but is still functioning. The folding mechanism malfunctioned shortly after I dropped it. It unfolds like 90% of the way then gets stuck. But aside from that, the inner screen still looks perfect, and the device itself still functions fine. I've kept my battery at 85% or less with battery protectory since purcgase. It still lasts me all day with typical usage.
