With this only being 512GB I will wait for the 1TB/2TB.

I don't know if AAAwave is trustworthy even if SD staff post the deal.

edit: AAAwave has been posted since 2018. I haven't personally used them.

How does the performance of this compare to an average sata SSD?

Cursory research indicates that throughput would be faster but the USB introduces more latency... so not sure what real-world would be.

Earlier this year there was a deal for 2 1tb ones with designs based on the video game lies of p for $90 and so far ive only used one to put old tv shows and movies on and keep it connected to the back of my tv and ive never felt it get hot or anything
