I think LM stopped including the Sheath in their multitool boxes recently. Older stock should still be OK to find, though.

The sidekick is in a weird place, IMHO.

If you want tools, the Wave+ is much better. If you can find an older package of the Wave with the sheath and compare it to the current price of the Sidekick w add-on sheath, I think the Wave becomes a no brainer buy. It's not a big deal to carry if you have the sheath on your belt, but it sucks in the pocket.

If you intend to EDC carry, the Skeletool might be better. It has all the essential tools you're most likely to use, but lighter and pocketable. The CX flavor has better steel in the knife, too. Should be pretty easy to find at $70 / $90, respectively.

As someone who has carried this particular tool since its introduction more than 10 years ago, in a rural / homesteading environment, I can comfortably say you are very much wrong.

It's not without flaws. The blade doesn't hold an edge as well as I would like. And mine has been back to Leatherman once for warranty replacement of the saw blade. I snapped it while trying to cut a 2" tree root out of the ground.

But it's been used in countless projects. Wiring, building, repairing outdoor power equipment, vehicle repair. It might be a 20 minute walk to the tool I would like to have when encountering a problem on my property. The Sidekick is most often what I have on me and usually gets the job done. It works away from home, too. Just last month, my mother-in-law had a small appliance problem that the Sidekick made quick work of. It was the tool I had on me, saving a trip to the hardware store.

It's a very capable multi-tool. It's best attribute is it is as easy to carry as a smallish pocket clip knife, but does so much more.

for anyone wondering if they can use the flathead for some mild prying. you can't. the warranty does cover replacement if you pay for shipping though.

I've carried a leathean for more than the last 25 years. anymore, I cannot fathom carrying anything other than the arc. the ease of use makes all others obselete in my mind. yes expensive, but worth it.

This is more of a toy than proper workman's tool. Buy one with replaceable wire cutter blades for serious purposes.

This is my daily carry Leatherman. I have others but I love the spring loaded pliers, and the price and... I am just used to it. I am sure there are better dailys but once you get used to something and know what it can do quickly, I think that is the key to a multi tool. I bought a lot of 6 of them used on ebay and ended up being about 30 each about 5 years ago. I think it's a great Leatherman.

Nice tool, but for occasional use, you can't beat the Ozark trail multi-tools if you are looking for something more budget friendly.

Yeah, any tool with no scissors is automatically no deal.

The Sidekick model has scissors but carries a half-serrated blade.
