So not the low of $1500 but with current turmoil, unlikely it will come back anything soon.
Most people believe this is the clone of Onkyo's RZ70.
It has a few feature differences but likely wouldn't hear a difference.
Here is a comparison:

This is the one Pioneer unit that does not have global crossovers.
It has 4 sub outs but two run parallel, so only 2 are independent.

"Consumers who have purchased Pioneer-branded audio and home theater products from PAC need not fear the end of this partnership. PAC has committed to continue to provide service and support "for all Pioneer and Pioneer Elite products it has produced and sold during the partnership."!

If not, there are many other less expensive options that would pretty much give you the same performance in my experience.
Assuming you're considering this because of Dirac.
I would point to the RZ30, which was just $700 & currently $719 for OB(EE deal).
It pretty much gives you everything this does and would have no problem powering your reference Polk speakers in my experience.
If you're using a subwoofer(s), add DLBC and you have a solid unit. You would still have $800 left over!

Nothing comes close to the power capability on unit at near this price
It shares the amp and power supply on its sister Onkyo RZ70
It is more powerful than many separate amps
Additionally Dirac onboard at no extra charge and bass control optional.
I tested this in my home home along with the Denon x4800 and Marantz Cinema 40.
There was a point where I personally owned all three
This Pioneer was the only one of the three that I kept

Is this opinion speculation or from ownership?
If ownership, what specific models of these MANY amps are you talking about?

That still doesn't answer what specific MANY "external amps" you were talking about!?
