I used expired old silicone, but it never cured. It was a bad experience, and the worst part was cleaning up the old stuff, which was a messy paste.

only buy if you're using in a month or two. not a year from now.

$15 regular price is insane

I used this stuff for years, and it was constantly needing to be re-done. I switched to a premium sanded caulk and it keeps going. Also looks a lot classier in a bathroom setting, you pick a color that matches your grout.

hmm sanded caulk (so that it does not mold?) from GE?

my grout is just white.

for the bathtub edges connecting/transitioning to tile edge?

black all the way. it hides mold stains quite well. i've always had to take out the white silicone because of this quite often.

This or DAP for $2.97?

For what purpose? ..this is 100% Silicone where waterproof is required and cannot be painted, whereas the DAP you link to is for general purpose indoor use where you may want to paint over it (ie over baseboard against wall for example, or around a door jam, etc). Sure it's infused with some silicone for marketing but check the "Ideal for" image for it's true purposes. There's a reason it costs $3 as silicone is costly. If silicone is too pricey, something cheaper outdoors is DAP 230.

Pro-Tip: anyone looking for a better silicone, GE's Supreme Silicone is better and my go-to, esp if using outdoors where water proof and strong adhesion are top priorities.

GE Silicone is garbage. Redid my bathroom last summer and used the white exclusively. A few months later, I had discoloration, shrinking and peeling away from the shower surround that I had installed that lead to a leak onto the downstairs ceiling. What a headache. Bought a brand called BEBOBLY on Amazon (100% Silicone) and redid the surround and it has held up beautifully. No separation, shrinking, or discoloration.

They changed the formula with this and it's not good.

We actually have had better results with the Tub and Tile which is their lower end sealant, b/c it doesn't have the "neutral cure" that the Advanced and Supreme ones have.

The neutral cure, while better for sealing surfaces which can stain, can result in the sealant turning yellow or green. GE claims the yellow/green can be removed with bleach, it cannot. So we no longer use any GE with "neutral cure" so no Advanced and no Supreme.

For caulking, we actually prefer using the Commercial 100% Silicone found in the tile section at home depot / lowe's instead (non-sanded).
