As others have commented, there's a tax law changing at the end of this year so I think the manufacturers with inventory feel it's better to move inventory now than when the tax incentive disappears. Also "winter is coming" and I don't mean the seasonal weather change.

Are there any good and cheap solar panels that people recommend for this? I've heard jackery solar input is somewhat proprietary, so you might need an adapter for 3rd party solar panels.

Someone already stated already, the Pecron F3000 is a much much better deal.
$$854 with no tax is a hell of a deal.
The Pecron has a much better solar input 120v max vs 60v for the Jackery. Plus no proprietary connections.
The Pecron even allow expandable batteries where the Jackery does not.
There's not a single thing the Jackery does better and they cost more.
Pecron F3000 all the way.

Zoupw makes some decent portable solar panels. They also come with the adapters you need for the jackery unit. I am personally waiting for prime day sale. The 450W was as low as $422 in the past.

I was researching both units and ordered the Pecron based on price, but the Jackery unit is supposed to run quieter and it uses less idle power (37 w for Pecron and 8 w for Jackery). If you are planning to use the power station in a quiet room, I would probably pick Jackery.

Sodium ion batteries are coming. The first ones were bulky and less efficient, but as the tech gets better, the batteries will get smaller and more efficient.

Catl will be ready to release the first mass produced batteries around the end of this year or early next year.

Some EV companies have already made the switch.

I was assuming some technology is changing for those batteries.

Jackery has a good reputation. They general are criticized for being slower to adopt new technology and for being more expensive, but their products are generally well regarded.

Just FYI, these are being marketed as an alternative to a generator, but they are nowhere close. This is great to power a fridge and a couple of lights, but it would not power an entire home for more than a couple of hours.
