Sprats, not Sardines. Small and mushy.

Amazon tells me 'You have used this promotion the maximum number of times', so no luck with the coupon

Have you had these before? The package says sardines so I assume it's going be small herrings and smoked

The package accurately states that these are "Brisling sardines." That's a synonym for sprats. And sprats are legally recognized internationally as a type of sardine. Look it up in the database of fishes. So I'm not sure what you're complaint is.

As for being mushy, that sounds like an assumption. I've had these and they aren't mushy. They're comparable to any other kind of canned sardines that I've had, including other types of sardines.

No, the package lists "Lightly Smoked Brisling Sprats". And, Yes, I've ordered what I thought were Sardines, but turned out in the Ingredients to be Sprats. Both times they were much smaller than the usual sardine fillets, were soft and mushy. One can looked like a slurry. If Sprats are legally recognized as a type of Sardine, why then do they call them out as Sprats in the ingredients and not just Sardines? I think the industry is passing these off as Sardines because they are so much more abundant and cheaper.

From Tasting Table, "Yes, sprats and sardines are generally considered different in quality, though both are small, silver fish from the herring family. Sprats are smaller, more tender, and have a milder, richer flavor often enhanced by smoking, while sardines are larger, more intensely flavored, and have more protein and fatty acids."

Why is it only ever the ones tainted with nasty olives that go on sale.
