Spent $900 a year ago on one of these. In for a second. This thing is absolutely earth shaking without being boomy.

the 14 inch for $700 x2 is the sweet spot.

Overall a pretty good deal

I've heard these firsthand. Not really anything to complain about, and hard to beat at this price.

A diy-sub from GSG or parts express will probably run you a little more after you factor in extra parts. Not to mention the time to build it. Probably better performance, but more effort overall.

Sometimes you find a local deal for a used PSA sub, but just judging this deal for what it is.... pretty good deal

I haven't heard of amp failures on these but the previous SPL versions had a lot of failures. I got two of these
Look up home cinema king or having fun repairs on youtube. The capacitors are apparently the weak point. The 1600's are the ones that seem to have the problem's. The 1000/1200/1400 appear to not have the same issue.
I'll check it out. This new RP line has a 5 year warranty so we should be covered if anything should fail and I've heard Klipsch is really good about replacement amps if they do fail.

Have a Mirage Omni S12 which was highly regarded back in the day. Want to go to a 2 sub setup and have been wanting to pick up an RSL-12. Anyone have an opinion on the RSL-12 or maybe has used both? I realized I missed a labor day sale and could have picked one up for $699. 😡
I got the RSL 12s on the labor day sale, and it's been great. It's supposed to be a blemish model, but I checked it up and down and see no blemish at all. part of me was let down that this came around right after, but honestly the 12s is probably all one would need.

Agreed. There was a marketing pamphlet with a frequency response chart posted somewhere on reddit around the time of initial release showing that the 14" hits harder between 20-30hz than the 16"

I have the 10" for $350. That is more than enough for me. It's a perfect pair for my Magnepans.

I want to push the buy button but hearing about the amp failures with the rp-1600, makes me want to hold off for either a 1400 or 1000. 1000 would fit the space best but could make it work.
I've been beating the hell out of mine for a year now. No failure yet but they have 5 year warranties so that's nice.

Klipsch subs have had a reputation for amplifier failures for DECADES. They typically last just past the warranty date. The drivers and cabinets are fine; the amps, not so much.

I have FOUR Klipsch sub amps sitting on a shelf in my shop; two are just dead, the other two do great at putting out hundreds of watts of hum.

I've used a lovely 12" SVS for years, a company that knows how to build amplifiers.

Caveat Emptor.

I bought two of these during last year's $900 deal. One of them works great, the other one has an amp issue I think. It crackles at certain frequencies. Interestingly, it's worse with low volume bass with the gain turned up a little. It has had the issue since day one. I haven't dealt with it yet but I am also told that Klipsch is pretty good about warranties for these types of issues so I'm not super worried. I really should get on it. I checked the wiring and it seemed fine. Swapped cables between the two and the same sub still had the issue. But now researching it, I should take a closer look at the internal wiring.

These 16" amps are dying , the 10/12/14 sizes are fine...but these are on fire sale because of the amps.

Yes, if you remove the muffler & gas tank.
