I think you gotta go with what's more important to you in this case.
Garmin: Wins with fitness and health tracking and battery life
Apple: Wins for the smartwatch functionality
So if you're looking for an advanced fitness/health tracker, go with the garmin. If you're looking for a smartwatch and already are in the Apple ecosystem and don't mind having to charge it every day, the Apple Watch is probably better.
I've seen a few in-depth comparisons online so def check some of those out! I think that the Venu series might also be closer to the AW than this line, although it's VERY close.

If you just want an accessory that looks good on your wrist, don't limit yourself to 'smartwatch'.
Apple watches have fancy screens and that's it. You may have seen news about Apple watches detecting AFib but it's NOT reliable.
I can set the phone aside for charging, but it's dumb to take the watch off and set it aside charging throughout the day.
