YMMV I guess...I've had the Express (the older version without the assisted tamping) for 10+ years and never had an issue.

I wouldn't buy this ever! I bought one 5 years ago. Worked relatively well but definitely not as good as a fully automatic espresso mahine (like the DeLonghi Costco had on sale for $500). But at some point water stopped coming out of group head. Did some research to and people said solenoid valve may need replacing. Did that but the problem reversed - hot water only came out of group head but not out of the frother or hot water nozzle. I thought the soelnoid valve I bought was defective so I tried it with a second new solenoid valve. The problem still persisted. Used multimeter to see if there is continuity. After all the troubleshooting, came to the conclusion that the board is defective.

Same, I'm going on 7 years at 5+ shots per day and it has been flawless.

FYI most reviews and forums will tell you that the more expensive Breville expresso machines with fancy features like touchscreens, auto-tamping, auto-frothing etc. aren't worth it. The sensible options are:

Any chance someone here can compare the quality of this vs the Delonghi Magnifica Start (w/ lattecrema)?

I like my super automatic - it produces a solid drink, but I just absolutely love the look and style of this one. And I know it's more work, which I'm fine with, but if there isn't any major difference in quality I'll just stick with what I have.

I have the same Magnifica Start you have with LatteCrema. My uncle has the Breville Barista Express Impress. Honestly the Magnifica Start is almost as good but with less work and more convenience. If you value convenience stick with what you have. If you value the looks and a marginal quality improvement then get the Breville.

A semi-automatic machine like Barista Express will make a significantly better shot of espresso than a superautomatic if you are willing to put in the work to constantly adjust grind size, dose amount, shot volume, water temperature, water pressure, tamp pressure and more. If you aren't into all that and just want a decent cup of coffee at a press of a button then the one you have is good enough.

If you want to make coffee or drinks coffee? lol I was debating on going semi automatic vs super automatic. I went for later since I have no time for making coffee. May a bit sacrifice but it's ok. Semi automatic needs tuning otherwise taste like shit

I bought this a couple of years ago from Homegoods for $499. So far, there have been no issues. I highly recommend checking out local stores before buying at this price. Homegoods also has different models.

Bought this model exactly this day 8 years ago for $460, it has been rock solid since, no issue at all. I also own a Delonghi super automatic, as far as the taste goes, the Delonghi is no where near the Breville, no matter if it's espresso or latte. That been said, there is a learning curve to use semi automatic and it's less convenient, but it well worth it when coming down to the taste.
