Buying a top-end processor at the beginning of the life cycle will be worth it. Or the other lesson is to wait 5 years to buy a top-of-the-line processor for 1/3 of the price when it initially released back in 2020.
With that CPU it's extremely hard to justify an upgrade.

depends on if you need all those cores.
It is still only a 7-12% improvement on the 5600 non x version. You can get the 5600 for $132 on Amazon. Don't think that's worth it for a lot of people.

I have a 5900X, will I see a big difference if I upgrade to this and sell the 5900X?
Is your aim better multithreaded, better gaming performance? Do you live near a microcenter? 12900k bundle for better gaming performance, 265k bundle for better multithreaded. If not you have to wait for newegg/amazon deals. I think the am4 upgrade path is a trap, but that also means your mobo might have better resale value on the 2nd hand market.

Did you just recommend two dead Intel platforms... while calling AM4 a "trap"? Tell you work for Intel, without telling me you work for Intel...
