Same gaming performance and added productivity performance at the expense of additional power draw (and heat generation/output).
edit: and added cost.

Maybe if youre planning to wait for black friday, but these two parts at msrp would be $1035 so its not bad for high end stuff that doesnt go on sale too often. Also reportedly they arent charging sales tax which on an item this expensive is another $75 ish

Note that gamers want the 9800x3d, not the 9950x3d which is more for multiple threading work like rendering and other productivity applications. It can game, so it may be worth it for someone that does both, just not the best.

I pulled the trigger on it. Too big of a discount to pass up. Essentially getting a 9950x3d upgrade for the price of a 9800x3d. Now to see what this upcoming Prime Day has to offer!

This is an excellent AM5 mobo for the money. It has many of the features like 5G NIC that are often not included on sub-$500 boards. Probably the best bang for buck and the 9950x3d is a great all around productivity and gaming CPU too.

How is this compared to Asus Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE $1,049.99? I'm hoping for a sale on the Asus m/b.

Thanks!

I thought the 9800x3d was a little faster, mainly because of thermals with the 9950x3d using more power.

Seems like it's basically the same performance on the gaming front.

The usual price difference between the 9800X3D and 9950X3D is usually around $175. That makes the 9800X3D more attractive to most people. This deal is essentially knocking that difference down to only $70. The potential added productivity of the 9950X3D might look more attractive for only $70 more.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not. I will say that I recently bought an MSI Project Zero motherboard with the back connects and I really hope this becomes an industry standard. The build experience was amazing not just from an asthetic standpoint. Not having to work around everything on the front of the board made the install go so much smoother.
