If anyone can help would be very appreciated - I need something for the most basic of green spaces, some sidewalk edging, under trees etc. Would this be enough for that or do I need to aim for the "expand-it" models.

"Brushless" "whisper" is the top tier for Ryobi, so it would handle that easily and $70 for the tool only is a good deal BUT you need a 4ah or 6ah HP battery+charger.. unless you already have those it or want to get into the massive Ryobi 18V universe, you can get a 40v Brushless expandit on ebay with 4ah battery+charger for <100.. which is probably overkill if you don't need hour runtimes of gas powr. the pole saw, blower, tiller, edger, etc which can all be found here for cheap. Just get the deals.. ryobi bottom tier is..bad.

leave it in your cart a few days and wait for offer...sometimes -30%. I know it says used.. i can't find the open box anymore but i only got burned one time on a pole saw, and they refunded easily. Also sent me a 6ah battery instead of 4ah once

Just picked up one for $70. I've always used gas but I'll give it a try. Got a ton of ryobi 4ah batteries laying around.
