4.0 and below is not good, anything in the 3's is problematic. Especially when you are pushing the jacket at 3L and the complaints are about it not being waterproof.

North Face is not what it used to be. The brand has gone downhill

Looks like others in same price range where the inside disintegrates after a few washes. Don't feel like wasting money on this pos or goretex. Need to find something cheaper that won't fall apart. My last TNF jacket was $100 and lasted almost 8 yrs seasonal use.

I would not consider 3.8/5 review as "pretty bad review"

Enough reviews describing it's non waterproofness to make this a pass. I have enough "waterproof" jackets already. Looking for something that actually is.

Stop putting it into the washing machine.... gentle with nikwax only or hand wash...

It is kinda odd that a 3L construction jacket that's waterproof needs a DWR coating. Sketchy...
ALL goretex like jackets have DWR coatings.

Yep, you'd be shocked at how utterly clueless many folks are.

I had a running buddy who told me he absolutely hated wicking polyester shirts, would only run in cotton Ts. It turned out that he had been washing the stuff in hot water on regular cycle along with the cottons. 🤣

Also with some of these non-PFAS DWR treatments, you need to throw the jacket into the dryer at the very least. The heat activates the PFAS-alternative DWR.

I have couple of gore-tex jacket. If you soak the elbow in long enough, you will see water soaked and wet the outer fabric, but your elbow will remain dry in the inside. It confuse me at first too since they advertise as waterproof, and it felt uncomfortable/wet, but I just notice recently that the inside was dry.

Actually that part makes sense because the goretex is never the outside layer.

Goretex waterproof membrane is usually the middle layer. The outer layer protects the goretex from wear, is responsible for breathability, and reduces how much moisture gets to the mid-layer. While the inner most layer is responsible for wicking and being skin friendly.

I have a north face rain jacket with goretex. It is not waterproof. It starts out okay then the water seeps through. I will never purchase another north face jacket or anything with goretex.
