Regret buying mine... have the one battery that came with it and only lasts 10-15 min. Would have been better if could use both plugged in or on battery. It is quiet unless using turbo and filters are nice but expensive. First few months of owning no filter replacements were available so make sure can get them before buying. Little remote is nice idea, but no way to charge on vacuum so mines always out of battery. It also sits flush with hose so it scrapes on ground when using without attachment and always falls off from magnet mount. I just use it around house so battery powered is not really that useful, as always near outlet. It's also very heavy. I think I'd just buy one of those stealth shop vacs from DEWALT for $100 and then maybe a small handheld battery shop vac instead.

please comment on how good this thing works as my 80 year old dad uses his shop vac outside all the time for leaves in courtyard and him not having to set up cords would be ideal

Is he putting it in reverse and using it as a blower and not actually vacuuming them? There are tons of deals on blowers if that's the case.

This EGO vac has a narrower hose (1 7/8") so it's probably not going to pick up leaves like a shop vac with a 2.5" hose. It's made for what it's really designed for, and that's cleaning dust, debris, and some liquids in a shop setting. Ego might be making a blower/mulcher in the near future based on this YouTube short, though I can't locate it on their website: https://youtube.com/shorts/-U9hPX...-ln7wK24or

But it is a good price for a 5Ah battery with a (mostly) free vacuum, right?

this is a really hard sell. Home Depot, Lowe's, and Harbor Freight all have vacuums around $100 that will last forever, are more universal with adapters, cheaper filters, and no need for expensive batteries. If this were to sell for $100 minutes the battery, then it might be a slick deal, but this item can't be a slick deal until then. Sorry, op.
Ego lawn mower, string trimmer, blower, etc. are comparable in price compared to the gas or corded versions. This should be too.

Sheesh, it says 20 mins on turbo mode but up to 60 on regular (eco). Are you using only on turbo mode? I'm not buying something that's only going to last 20 mins even on a normal setting.

Lol I love my Ego tools but what an absurd price. I'll stick with my $30 corded craftsman

You would not want to leave this outside in the elements (rain, wet, etc)

Not when you figure a 5.0 Ah battery is $270.

Having to charge the remote separately is annoying. If this had ability to plug 110v in and charge the battery for the vac and remote, it would be ideal.

It's my favorite vacuum I've ever owned, hands down. As a blower, it functions like any other shop vac. It's not really designed to push the air volume of a true leaf blower. Ego makes some of the best leaf blowers, too. Here are the standout features vs. my Craftsman shop vac:1. Quiet speeds available if you need them, vs. normal shop vac with just one speed. 2. No cords, like you mentioned. We call ours "Cedric". Just pull on the hose and it follows you around like a somewhat clumsy puppy. Super convenient, especially for outside jobs. 3. The remote. I know this seems like an unnecessary luxury feature, but my wife and I both really appreciate it. It magnetically attaches to the end of your hose. You can turn it on and off without having to maneuver to the actual vacuum. It even has a little light. At 80 years old, I can see your dad appreciating this feature. Additional note: It's not really a leaf vac or leaf blower. It's more designed to just be a shop vac. It's very powerful and holds quite a bit. Overall, it's very well designed, and this bundle is even cheaper than what I paid. I have no regrets. We love ours.

Ridgid and other corded vacuums are very very good for a fraction of the price. Hard to justify cordless imo
