can you play something that pushes the ps2 like kingdom hearts 2 or something easy like crash bandicoot?

yes, but not well. T820 is at the bottom for ps2 compatabilityfor this price and ps2 i'd go for a different device

Looking at this vs the 406H and wondering if it's worth paying the extra $30. Can anyone help nudge me in either direction?

Same level of performance since it runs the same chip, biggest difference is going to be the screen, this has what's pretty much the best screen for 4x3 retro content out right now imo, 4.7" and 120hz. The upside of the 406h would be for the PS2/GameCube games that this chip supports you're getting better ergonomics (at the cost of Pocketability) with the ergo grips and also having the thumbstick up top On the left. Personally I'd recommend this one simply for the screen. It's the same screen as the 477m but your saving over $100 and getting 80-90% of the applicable performance of that device.
