Warning to those who stock up on these. I purchased and redeemed 3 years worth of Game Pass gift cards. After a few months, my account was hacked and locked due to suspicious activity.

I asked Microsoft to unlock the account. It took them 3 months to tell me they couldn't and "although we are sure this isnt the answer you want to hear," they wouldn't give me any credit for the two plus years of Xbox Ultimate Game Pass I had on the account, nor would they refund me the annual Office 365 subscription I had purchased a week before my account was compromised.

That's what I get for paying for too much in advance.
Iv been three years ahead since 2021 exclusively buying discounted ultimate at like $10/month. You not securing your account correctly is what got someone into it.

Paying the COD tax. I burned up as many Rewards points as I could yesterday before they pulled Ultimate codes as an option to redeem, I maxed out my sub, but in 3 years from now I'm not sure what kind of shape the entire Xbox brand is going to be in, might be the last hurrah.
12k of free points per month of ultimate seemed like a MUCH better deal than anything else being offered.
I stopped at 12mo because i didn't even get the notification until like 10pm
i could have gotten another 8months worth or so, but i figured i'd hold on to that $100 in points just in case i want free physical goods... but i've already gotten an X, a couple custom controllers, the bluetooth headset, and a bunch of games over the past couple years

Can you still do the VPN trick using other countries to get it for $10 a month or so.

One game costs $70 and people are crying about $30 a month? I don't like the suddenness of the price hike but it's still a tremendous value to me.
you're assuming we'd be paying $70 for a brand new game. i have 400 games in my steam library and 300 in epic and maybe 12 were purchased at full retail price. my steam account is old enough to legally drink.GP is great because i can try out games i would never even consider purchasing and there are many options the spouse enjoys that they wouldn't have thought to buy.

They probably are? Where are they getting 1 month codes from? I believe it was from Bing rewards points farms, now that you can't buy sub codes with rewards they'll disappear in a few weeks depending on stock remaining.

If that's not the source, still stands to reason since the value has increased the price on secondary market will increase as well.

Xbox might end up hurting (because they just axed their platform's last unique selling point). Microsoft won't be hurting though. Heck with as many game studios they own now, Microsoft will still remain relevant in gaming even if Xbox hardware closed up shop entirely.
Not to mention, Microsoft owns the PC platform. Behind them, Blackrock owns a huge chunk in Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia, Google... all the competition. It's 3 card Monte to them. They actually make money playing these games.
And who's on the board of BlackRock, Vanguard State Street? I'll leave that for you to figure out. Wouldn't be hard to guess

These converted to 1.5 months for me just now so it's the same $20 a month price.
Sorry about that. When I checked the xbox conversion page, it showed 2 months for existing subscribers. It now shows 44 days.

I can confirm the conversion for non-subscribers since I did it last night.

Technically you don't need an Xbox since you can stream gamepass ultimate form your phone, tablet, etc. mine expired but I also streamed from from Xbox one x. I just bought 12 months of PlayStation plus essential for $80 just to collect the 3 free monthly games and I don't even have a ps5 probably won't since it's expensive too. I'll still use it for ps4 pro and ps3 games I've been getting for free as previous subscriber over the years

Just cancelled my Rog Ally Xbox pre-order after they raise the price on game pass, also some games cannot be played offline unless you also bought the game (what's the point of gamepass if you need to buy the game also). Back to Steam I go.

eh it was good while it lasted but now i can't justify the pricing for gamepass really with so many backlog games on steam and gog. the part that sucks is that my kid plays with me on gamepass for games like Minecraft. i guess I'll just get him a key

wow im stunned. these price increases are greedy. So. xbox will now cost $650. AMD must have increased prices. at least the minumum required to play multiplayer hasnt increased yet. id wager it be $20 in 6-12 months. Game pass games has some great games but most are trash. The price increases to pay for Fortnight Battlepass and ubisoft is lame. Ubisoftb is a has been
You can also play games that you own now...but it isn't worth $30/m0
