Does this stack if I am already an Ultimate subscriber?
Last I checked you can stack up to 3 years. Definitely go that route if you can!

Smartest thing to do is sell the xbox and go full PS5, sure they might pull the same move, but if all Xbox games coming to PS5, might as well go with the console that has access to the most games. Who would keep buying an xbox at this point?

Yup, agreed. They might be of the same color, but there is a definitely difference in shade.
.
Xbox is putting ads directly into their dashboard. Xbox stopped offering physical disc version for a majority of it's titles (Indiana Jones is digitally only; while on PS5 a disc is available). Xbox tried increasing it's games up to $80 (The Outer Worlds 2)
.
Sony isn't clean itself, but better enough than Xbox who have no clear direction and future potential with all their studio closures and project cancellations.

people still renting video games for 30 dollars a months ? oh my my smart people buy the games they like for two bucks on steam and keep them forever to play whenever
1) On Steam, you DO NOT "own them". You get a license to play the games you pay for (plenty of articles written about this). You can't sell or trade your license and they end when you die, so you can't pass them down to anyone.
2) Yes, you can play on a PC but most people who play XBox have it connected to the big TV in their living room. The PC is in another room on a smaller monitor. So if you want to play a AAA title on a big screen, if you bought it with steam, you either move the PC to the living room of you're SOL.

I'm finally done.. I've had Xbox Live for 20 years. Since the OG Xbox playing Halo 2 and MechAssault. Microsoft has made misstep after misstep. So many IPs wasted.. So much goodwill squandered. On the bright side, I can focus on my insane backlog. They hardly release anything new worth playing anyway. Most fun I've had recently has been playing Helldivers and Deep Rock. This price increase is just too much to justify.. Can't believe I'm finally canceling after 2 decades
Same here, I've been an Xbox diehard, would love to continue playing with my youngest but I'm not justifying $30 a month with not many games he wants anyways

All you have to do is play one new full price game and the ultimate sub will pay for itself. As opposed to paying $80 for a single game that you might not even like

If you don't game enough to justify the $30. You do know there is 2 other tiers. If 30 dollars is too much there is the middle 15 dollar tier that has nearly the same access

the point is being able to play whenever you want. Why are you in slickdeals if you pay full price for a game anyway? These games will go on sale at some point. Gamepass prices only goes up on the other hand.

I cancelled my gamepass since they raised ultimate price from $15. All these price hikes in games and consoles will eventually collapse. Time to go out to the park and touch grass. It's free (except tax)

Paying the COD tax. I burned up as many Rewards points as I could yesterday before they pulled Ultimate codes as an option to redeem, I maxed out my sub, but in 3 years from now I'm not sure what kind of shape the entire Xbox brand is going to be in, might be the last hurrah.
12k of free points per month of ultimate seemed like a MUCH better deal than anything else being offered.
I stopped at 12mo because i didn't even get the notification until like 10pm
i could have gotten another 8months worth or so, but i figured i'd hold on to that $100 in points just in case i want free physical goods... but i've already gotten an X, a couple custom controllers, the bluetooth headset, and a bunch of games over the past couple years
How would you get some many reward points ? I'd like to know how to maximize my points. The quests offer such low amounts.

PSA: Microsoft revamps Xbox Game Pass plans and hikes Ultimate to $29.99 a month STARTING TODAY so grab them for $20/month while there's still time. https://www.theverge.com/news/789...se-changesedit: thread is getting downvoted even though I'm just hoping it saves gamers $$ :\
wow im stunned. these price increases are greedy. So. xbox will now cost $650. AMD must have increased prices. at least the minumum required to play multiplayer hasnt increased yet. id wager it be $20 in 6-12 months. Game pass games has some great games but most are trash. The price increases to pay for Fortnight Battlepass and ubisoft is lame. Ubisoftb is a has been
price increase

Microsoft (and other HyperClouds) are spending so much money on AI and its infrastructure they are either increasing pricing on things or eliminating head count to continue to fund it. So this is a pass the buck scenario or maybe even an AI tariff.
AI tariff? I think you should do some research on who is leading the AI race lol

holy shit ultimate costs $30 now?? i paid $6.67/mo for 3 years... 2.5 years ago. there's no way I'm paying $20/mo as a slick deal moving forward
Same boat. Then I extended at $11 thinking the value was still strong. $20/month would be a maybe but $30/month is an easy no. When my current subs run out I'm done. Will move my kids to Steam gaming (free online play - big backlog) and Nintendo ($3/month).
