I can't comment on the need for an extra battery, but they retail at $60. Meaning the Costco deal is technically a better deal if you want the FurGuard.
Don't buy Bissell it's total junk. I've bought two vacs from them and they don't last. Last one was a robot vac that was replaced twice under warranty then dies after warranty. Of course they wouldn't do anything to help me.

I always buy Bissell. None of their products have ever failed on me. I have a Bissell Healthy Home vacuum (5770) that I've had for 18 years. Not a single problem. I never even had to replace the belt or brush.
Costco also has the FurGuard with an extra battery for $199
I got it there 2 month ago when they had it for $150+$5 shipping. It has basically zero display/sensors but works well. Power/battery seems adequate and the smaller motorized upholstery head that comes with it is effective. The regular brush head is tangle free as billed. I haven't needed the extra battery for one or two rooms but nice to have ready. The wall hanger works well - holds all of the tools and lets you recharge simply hanging it up. It can also be charged by plugging in the charger to the vac when it's off of the hanger or even directly into a battery. Couple thoughtful features 1)when you pull off the power head you have a functional crevice tool which is very handy 2)It will actually stand up by itself pretty reliably! All in all I think they stripped the bells and whistles and you end up with a lot of value if you can live with that. Millennials that want a screen, sensors, app and aesthetics should probably look elsewhere.

Hey hey hey, some of us millennials will take an average intelligence (read: dumb) device over a smart one any day. We -are- the last generation to experience the bliss of a world without dumb apps that are the plague of modern tech. No, sir, I will not download an app and share my location to use a light bulb.

That being said thanks for the review haha.
Ha you're right! I should have said late millennials and gen Zers. I was thinking about a NYT piece that talked about the Dyson cordless vacs becoming a generational status symbol for that set. I'm no Luddite but when I'm sucking up cat puke I'm happy to skip the app.

edit: Not sure if Target has fewer attachments/add-ons than Amazon
