Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank SDJP2020

Not a bad price, but Steam Deck LCDs are supposedly similar in performance to the Z2 Go, and thats 319 new. At this price I would probably go for an Ally Z1X used or new SD Oled. The Z1X version is good but it's 600+.

Edit:
I am wrong, saw a few performance videos and it's closer to Z1X but not entirely there. So this is a decent deal but refurb Ally Z1Xs are still around this price on eBay.

I think it's the Z2A that is similar. I think this is a step up but short of a Z1E. I still agree with your recommendation, although the screen on the Lenovo is really nice.

Hard to recommend the Legion Go S with Z2 Go. Other handhelds have either better power or battery life at similar price points.

If power is what your want, the ROG Ally with Z1E has been available refurbed in the $400-$450 range quite a few times recently.

Otherwise, I'd recommend a Steam Deck LCD or OLED. I've owned both, with the SD OLED as my current handheld. As SDJP2020 stated, Legion Go S is in a similar performance category, but SD is a more proven hardware platform. OLED is priced at $550 currently so not a great deal, (Probably on sale this winter) but the LCD is only $320 right now during the Autumn sale. That's a steal, and it's new, not refurb.

You are correct, this is a Z2 Go, not a Z2A. I'd actually say the Z2A is worse than the Steam Deck, simply because it underperforms it at lower TDPs. It's a chip that no one wanted.

It's important to note, you really need SteamOS on the Legion Go series (as this listed deal includes) to provide full performance. Windows 11 is a horrible mobile OS. It really needs a full-power CPU to not impact gaming.

I have one of these. it performs a little better than the Steam Deck, however this screen is beautiful and it is very comfortable to hold.

IMHO, this is a much better buy than the SD and SD OLED. SD OLED is $550 and this is $99 less. It's not OLED, but the screen is really nice and has better specs all around.

I have the Z1E version and its better than my OG Ally, that I got after selling my launch SD. The The ergos for the Legion Go are so comfortable in the hand, and I think that the screen being taller gives more vertical room for my hands.
  • 8" Screen (vs 7" in SD)
  • 1200p screen (vs 800p in SD)
  • 120Hz screen (vs 60hz LCD SD and 90hz OLED)
  • VRR (SD doesn't have VRR to combat screen tearing)
  • Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers (SD doesn't have)
  • Adjustable throw for triggers (SD doesn't have)
  • Mini Touchpad (Not as good as SD, but its there)
  • 2x USB4 40Gb/s ports for Power Delivery and eGPUs) Having the ability to use and eGPU can open so many possiblities. This can be used as a true Gaming Desktop computer.
    • * I don't know if eGPUs work the same in Linux though... Truth be told. So, it might not be an issue.

since you are just going to copypaste on every LEGIONGO post I will do the same

just a reminder that pushing 120hz on 1200p on devices with this power envelope is moot...
mini touch pad is not the same as the STEAMDECK in any way, no idea why you even compared them
OLED screen offers the lowest input lag of any screen technology available, and true black HDR

if someone is thinking about it in the amazon prime day sale, used to like new is 410 to 430$ after 35% off. If you have prime card you can get 7% cash back for delayed shipping. you really need to debloat windows to get ram back or run steamos. it is officially supported on legion go s.

This device is superior to Steam Deck LCD in almost every way, so $100-150 more is worth it if it's in like new condition. I would take this over all the ROG Ally (besides the Xbox X) devices due to screen size alone, 8 inches is a great sweet spot. The Legion Go/Go 2 doesn't make a very good handheld with the 8.8 inch screen and large size, so I think the S is the recommended pick for most people.

Yep it was just $393 on Amazon. Another user posted. Weird, it didn't get much attention
