There is a Standby mode for 5$/month, with unlimited data at 0.5 Mbps.

This should work fine for texting, wifi calling and maybe sd YouTube videos while camping with no cell signal. Do you know if you need to pay for first month to switch to standby mode or can I pay for the starlink and go straight to standby mode for $5?

Man, I've been waiting for a sale and I need it for next weekend, but I don't think it will get here in time if I order from Starlink directly. I wish BestBuy would price match!

Perfect. I just starting looking at this for tailgating this week. Came to Slickdeals to setup an alert and stumbled upon this! Thank you.

I ordered with $50 plan, and was able to switch to standby plan before activate the device a few months ago. Only get charged for $5 plan

Anyone use one Exclusively for remote camping trips? Just need minimal connectivity.
What would it take to leverage this deal to that use case?

The roam plan is subsidizing the initial cost? How quickly can you dump that for the Standby Mode?

Or even no access until needed again, is there a extra cost to reactivate for a week of usage while camping, and then back off until needed again?

I want to buy a starlink device for use during power outages.
Which device should I buy? Residential or Roam? Is the standby mode offered with both the devices?

Just picked up at BB. They have it at $299 now. Did not show online but rang up in store at $299.

My bad. I was looking at the U.S service prices. The US $160/month option is for those roaming the world, which is what i'm looking for.

Standard kit will be faster in most cases but not as portable, mini slower yet extremely portable. Standard kit requires a 110v outlet and the mini can run off of 12v connection. I have the standard in standby for "emergency" but like to have the "mini" for the mobile needs here and there.
