want to mention there's a huge difference between factory refurbished (by apple in this case) vs. third party refurbished, which basically just a fancier 'used' one

Because some of us are still running Macbook Pros from 2015 flawlessly. Best time to buy a car is 3 years depreciated as the slope of the value curve significantly flattens out at that point.

Where do you see "factory refurbished by Apple"? This is a used item sold by third party. There are similar used MBPros for $700-740 on eBay. They are also "eBay refurbished", aka used and the same AllState warranty, aka no warranty.

he said the same thing you're saying... just called out that Apple would be the factory refurbishing entity, if the product was factory refurbished, which this one isn't.
you read into it oddly.

Didn't see anything in their description mentioning what type of battery health they're selling these with.

The Allstate warranty is basically worthless you are saying?
almost pulled the trigger because I saw that warranty. Does Allstate warranty do anything?

The do , but it requires providing a lot of documents etc. effort, Which is actually normal with any third party warranty - they have no idea what the equipment condition is until you document it properly. I should've clarified "not a manufacturer's warranty".

I do think all states's warranty is pretty good. you send in the defective item and they either fix it or you get your money back. when I did have to use it, it was easy to look up because all the items I bought from eBay had the warranty info in one spot

I myself will not rely on Allstate. My only experience is a filed claim for a broken iPhone, insured through a credit card usage/perk. Initially they denied it although the repair estimate and quote was done by Apple itself (in an Apple store). It can't be more official than that. I gave up, but miraculously the insurance case was reopened and paid a month later.
Some people report positive experience, some negative.

No they don't require a lot of documentation you are talking out of your ass. It's so easy to use eBay Allstate warranties.
