Be aware that the louvers are NOT water tight. They can handle light rain but with heavy rain they will sag down and start dripping. Everything will get wet under heavy rain.

Very tempting but I don't want to build it. Any recommendations there?
I would have built it but found out I could just hire someone from thumbtack for $320 and they did it in an afternoon. I missed out on the joy of getting my hands dirty but finding that kind of time on a weekend isn't an option for me right now. They guy who came had built a few dozen mirador pergolas before, so it was a cinch for him (and he did it solo).

Fits perfectly on my patio, crazy how well it works for me. Bought one! We had some wind gusts over 90mph last year, which was super rare, but hopefully it holds up!

Are you sure? I think steel handles more weight
Aluminum is definitely better here. The steel will be stronger, but even in places where you'd get a good amount of snow the load isn't likely to be a deal breaker with either. The corrosion resistance is why you're going with aluminum. It's far more corrosion resistant than steel, so an aluminum version will basically last you as long as you want it to, unless it gets hit by something and damaged. Steel will probably hold out 10-15 years before rust gets the better part of it, less if you're anywhere near saltwater.
This is a good deal, but for that reason I'm going with the sale at Costco.

Edit - not sure why I said steel would be stronger, it's not, and the snow load numbers are significantly higher for aluminum in the specs.

Cheapass, here's the thing — at a certain age you stop worrying about deals and start worrying about fiber intake, knee strength, and remembering why you walked into a room. Maybe it's time you trade hype comments for a good multivitamin.

This is like 2 inches too tall for my space. Anyone know if you can cut to corners some to make it shorter? Looks like the foot pad screws into the base and it may have threaded holes all the way up but can't tell for sure

Oh that's a great idea! I'll check and see if anyone local has built them.

I don't think so. I also purchased this from Costco. The louvers tilt slightly from the weight of heavy rain.
I agree with this, the website states its water proof... z32tt didnt install theirs correctly.

I have this same model but from Costco. We have ours anchored into our paver patio (note the pavers are large pavers and thick). No issues with rain or wind and we live against a wind tunnel where we see winds 60+ MPH. Just remember to always open the louvers when done, if closed a strong wind can very easy F it all up.

So far absolutely love it. I put it together by myself with just a couple aspects my wife had to help support it so I could connect the parts. There are some good YouTube videos showing assembly.

What I found helpful.
- You can likely assemble solo, but it's a challenge at certain points. Two people are best.
- Do NOT try to assemble it on a windy day. The wind can easily throw it off balance esp if assembling solo.
- Took me several hours to ensure I did it correctly and measured it exactly as stated.

They make and sell side panels, but maybe once I win the lottery I can buy those for full enclosure.

Oh shit. You are coming with receipts. I apologize for thinking you were a bot!But wait. What if we are both bots and we are just programmed to hype this deal.
LOL

I'm not a bot, but have been a lurker for the past decade for sure. Used to be very active in 07-10 here (at least active for me).

This was an item I have more knowledge about then most as I was diving into it over the past few months. I do wish I had more people to tell about this though (also, there is another thread that stacks this deal with a coupon BESTPATIO which makes the price of the 10x13 eye-meltingly good. I don't need a second pergola but the price makes me think about it ahhaha)

Cheers to you, another non-bot ;-)
A bit that is self aware and pretending to be human. Never thought I'd see the day lol. Because of you I might get one lol

that wind rating of 73mph its probably not an option for Florida
You can put longer concrete anchors in there. The ones they provided did not drill well, so i bought some nicer ones.

I have a 20x10 I bought from Costco, and is the best item I have in the backyard.

This thing is just perfect. I open it on nice days and let the sun shine through.

It is not an easy installation, especially the concrete anchors you need to drill.

My only complaint is that the rain holes get clogged up and is almost impossible to clean and get rid of debris inside the columns.
