Any thoughts on switching from Dewalt 20v to m12 platform?
I'm just a homeowner/diy-er I feel like most of my projects don't require a ton of power. I really like the m12 for its size
I sold all my Dewalt 20 Volt on the bay & opted for the Mikwaukee lucky china red, because I don't need all that contractor power for household tasks like installing door knobs, tighten/loosen screws, occasionally drilling a hole to mount/hang something, assembling ikea furniture.
dang, they're really trying to give away these 3.0ah batteries. they are arguably the worst M12 battery, so hopefully they stop making them after all these promotions. barely more capacity as what they have in compact batteries now
I love all mine. The 1/4 fuel hex impact kicks a$$. Even with a normal 2AH battery I swear it's stronger than the 18V Ridgid I got rid of. Not sure about DeWalt though

Yeah, the same footprint of a 5ah when you can get a 2.5 in a much smaller pack.
Only worth it if its super cheap and the flat base just makes you want to stand the tool up so it can get knocked over lol

I love my M12 (Fuel) tools just as much as my XR 20V Dewalt stuff. The regular M12 stuff is ok, but the Fuel line is extremely capable. I usually reach for my M12 since they're so small..

Depends if you have other "big" tools you want to run.
You might not need a ton of drill/ driver power, but what about something like a circular saw?
I find it worth having both 12 and 18v systems. My little 12v drill and impact are great around the house, but 18v is nice to have for the cutting/routing tools.

Their latest M12 Fuel offerings go toe-to-toe with most other manufacturers' 18V tools (and sometimes even beat them).
One of the biggest remaining reasons to go for Milwaukee's M18 lineup (over M12) is that the batteries do ultimately have more capacity if your use case has you using tools all day or for longer durations.. e.g., even though the gen3 M12 Fuel impact wrench boasts up to 550 ft-lbs, you've got about 60Wh from a M12 5AH HO, vs 108 - 162Wh+ from M18 6-9AH+ batteries. So, a guy doing tires or brakes all day might want the M18 instead.
One thing I really appreciate when you buy M18 tools is that the M18 chargers also have the M12 charger onboard too.. so you don't have to multiple chargers kicking around (unless you want to charge more than one battery at a time).
It's a nice (albeit expensive) platform to be on. Tool wise, it's incredibly diverse.
This bundle, though, I'd probably avoid. M12 3AH batteries are 'bottom of the barrel' and practically worthless. This has often been available around this price but with the installation driver or another free tool for this same price (instead of the 2x 3AH).
I literally tried to buy this deal a few weeks ago and passed out on the couch at checkout around 11:30p (after a long day) then woke up at 1am and it went back to normal price. HD customer service was of no help. So glad it's back and since then I scored a $30 HD gift card, so even sweeter. Going to return the impact and driver I got off Amazon which were a good price but pretty sure they were refurbished since one had a bunch of scratches on it. Thanks !!!

I have dewalt 20v brushless, and was looking into their 12v but hated it. I took a gamble with Skil 12v brushless in a no brainer deal Lowe's had a few months ago, and tbh I haven't touched my dewalt tools since then. Lighter, smaller, batteries can be charged via usb c cable directly. Paid $149 for like 6 tools and 2 batteries.
