Is the correct way to do this still is to add 3x12 months of core then add a 1 month of ultimate to an expired account to max out?

Haven't played Xbox in years, but wanted to play Halo with my son. I used to get the Xbox Live Gold (I think). Will this enable me to play online multiplayer?

just tried to redeem and got an error code.

may be a problem with stacking it on an active ultimate account?

was able to redeem seamlessly and convert with the mobile app - somehow the xbox redemption kept hanging up.

it may be a console or storefront thing - the mobile app took the code and converted immediately. stacked now well into next year.

so this is essentially about $12.92 per month for ultimate after the 40% conversion. load 36 months of core. which becomes 14.4 months of ultimate. sigh.

also FYI, you can't buy these and hold on to the codes. the codes expire 12 months after purchase.
