from what ive read, mosquitos aren't attracted to light. but this should be effective torwards other bugs that are.

they are attracted to carbon dioxide though, so I wonder if a small burning ember of charcoal next to it would draw them in

I used the small electric tennis racket for fly's, it has a blue light mode and worked a bit on it's stand.. Love the sound of the flying death snap

I have learned that, in order to kill flying insects, these devices actually attract them. I have been better off not using one.
This might be useful indoors, though.

I have a doggy door and small moth type insects love to come inside at night and chill on my ceiling. I plugged my zapper back in outside again the other day and haven't had any in a couple days. I hear the music of the zap and sizzle pretty often though so it probably attracts more but at least they don't come inside.
