- JohnPaul2 Use Shizuku [https://shizuku.rikka.app/ or https://github.com/RikkaApps/Shizuku] to enable on-device ADB (via wireless debugging itself after turning it on via the Android developer settings) and then use Canta [https://samolego.github.io/Canta/ or https://github.com/samolego/Canta] to review apps to remove/uninstall. Go slow and make sure you're not deleting random things as you can break core device functionality.
- WiseWing899 would recommend users go into developer options and reduce Window + Transition + Animation scales to .5x (half) for a much snappier feel when navigating or opening apps.
- pokypig101 I've got this tablet and the stuttering/lag was driving me crazy, but once I turned off the "RAM boost" feature the experience has been a night and day difference.

post172366524 search for "how to change your csc", or start at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmVkCZ_XhI0 change it to xaa and do factory default. This will then disable the Metro splash screen and bloat. As googlephone commeneted there, After one year, you need to change the CSC/firmware back to metro/TMO, factory reset, and put a metro sim card inside to get back the metro network unlock app back to unlock the tablet. - JohnPaul2 said Use Shizuku [https://shizuku.rikka.app/[rikka.app]orhttps://github.com/RikkaApps/Shizuku[github.com]]to enable on-device ADB (via wireless debugging itself after turning it on via the Android developer settings) and then use Canta [https://samolego.github.io/Canta/[github.io] orhttps://github.com/samolego/Canta[github.com]]to review apps to remove/uninstall. I use it 1) as a 5g hotspot 2) as a dedicated Microsoft Teams screen for work and 3) to stream Xbox/PC games so I don't have being front of the TV to play.
About $50 if youre new and go BYOD route = cheapest cell plan $30 + $20 for tablet line

It might seem intimidating but I'd also recommend using ADB and getting rid of the bloatware from Metro. YT vids are really easy to follow.
I don't have too many apps on it, to preserve memory, however it's still great for my needs. I primarily stream shows/movies on it, I don't use it for browsing the web because that's where it feels the most slow.
The coolest thing I use it for is mirroring my pixel 9 pro to play games with the USB Camera Pro App ($3). I connect both together via a USBc hub and a few others chords, allowing me to play my ps2/gamecube games on the Samsung screen. (720p and 60fps seems to run the smoothest)
Dex mode is available on this, but limited compared to the higher end models. For example you can't run a secondary monitor from the Tablet . But if you tinker around the settings, and download a few apps (you can uninstall them afterwards) - you are able to use the tablet as a secondary monitor for your PC/Laptop via WiFi. Minor latency, as to be expected with wifi connection. I'm sure there are apps out there for purchase allowing you to use a wired connection instead.
TLDR; a solid choice for those who primarily stream, web browsing can feel 1-2 seconds sluggish. However with a bit of tinkering you can get much more from this tablet. Don't expect to play games on this at all though, I wouldn't.

My question is, if I activated the tablet using the Activate link from email and never actually get their SIM to work in the tablet, will it still unlock after 365 days? My other option would be to pay the $10 for a replacement SIM. CS wouldn't waive the fee when asked. I'm fine with a WiFi tablet for a year as long as it will unlock. Thanks in advance.

It got auto activated( i think it does that after 15 days from the order).
Finally, 6 months later (it was a 6 month unlock policy then), I put in the sim and was able to unlock it just fine.
So i think all you need is that you activate the line online and then later a metro sim so that bit boots into the metro firmware.
This is what some of the folks are doing as well with the phone, who ordered the phone on add a line with the extension and then just activate the line before the phone is delivered.

I got the previous iteration of this offer, the a7 tablet. Never activated it, didnt put the sim in it at all.
This person's issue is different from us. They received a damaged SIM but since they didn't put the sim in until the expiration of the line, they didn't realize it was a damaged SIM.
Kings311, do you have a T-Mobile SIM card to insert?

Which is what i said that it will unlock as long as they have activated the line using the email link and putting the sim is not necessary, atleast it wasnt for me
What happens if you insert the T-Mobile SIM card in?
In that case, you might have to check occasionally at the 90, 180 and 365 day period using an AT&T SIM

I think they were asking about the unlock happening without even putting in the sim.
When it auto-activated, did you get an email? And then afterwards, did you try to use the Metro SIM to see if the tablet data worked? I'm not clear if you had an active Metro phone plan when it auto-activated.
I only inserted the sim 6+ months later to unlock it.
