If canceling Walmart+ doesn't give you the half-price offer and instead cancels your membership at the end of the current term, and if you have the Amex $49 back offer available, you can always renew Walmart+ using the Amex card and end up with half-price, plus whatever normal cashback or points you get with Amex.

Walmart has been good to me. The free shipping, same day delivery, same day returns from home, exclusive discounts and I'm also thinking of applying for the 5 percent cashback card they offer. Although I can't utilize this deal, even at full price it's a good deal for me. Would have been sweeter if I could but I renewed automatically in July. It says I have 307 days to go. Oh, well. Still keeping it. So much so that I'm thinking of getting rid of Amazon.

Yep, same question! Looks strange because I never remember getting an offer this year.

I think I did this last year. In the app it shows $49. I got an email that has it listed as full price. So... is it renewing at half or full price?

I was a little nervous I would cancel and then be SOL. Didn't see this clearly written anywhere else, so here's how I was able to get this to work on desktop:

1. Go to Walmart.com -> Manage Walmart+ membership -> click "manage"
2. "Manage your plan" page opens up
3. Under "Cancel membership", click "Cancel"
4. Walmart prompted me to claim the $49/year offer then and there without me having to formally cancel beforehand.

Now I'm set to renew next month @ this discounted price. thanks OP!

Do they refund unused membership or does it just extend current membership to end
No refunds. Service continues till the end of your contract date.

I just canceled and they verified that my membership continues until the expiration date

Curious, anyone get an email from them (I'm a month out from end of subscription) stating it will renew and its $98. However, I went in for the last time this deal was posted (for renewal) and in the app it shows $49. I paid $49 last year, so it's not clear to me whether the deal "stuck" when I did it a few months ago for next renewal. They have their ominous "no refunds" message. Anyone else have these conflicting messages? I'm assuming it might be that the email is just a generic renewal prompt that does not reflect the deal.
