Kept the preinstalled (unactivated) AT&T prepaid physical SIM card in the phone occupying IMEI1.
All is working well. Calls/Text/5G Data. When first attempting the transfer with service on Warp (VZW Network) the eSIM transfer would not go through.
Requested US Mobile to change my line's network to DarkStar and it installed without a hitch.

So weird, I thought the gov't said 60 days for unlock...
When Verizon licensed the 700MHz spectrum in 2008, and again when it acquired Tracfone in 2020, it agreed to an Unlocking Rule that allowed users to switch to any network after purchasing a handset. That changed in 2019, when the FCC permitted Verizon to lock devices for 60 days, following the carrier's argument that the delay would help combat fraud and identity theft.
Verizon actually sought to overturn that rule earlier this year. So in short, AT&T, T-Mobile or other carriers are not required by law to unlock phones after 60 days.

I went ahead and got a cheap case with glass protector but may end up not using it. I've never cracked a screen on a phone and I've been using non flip phones for 18 years or more.
The main driver for me to get it was the security update life span. As the total package is a bulkier phone.
I have never been able to get any the the AT&T prepaid phones to unlock, it was not an issue for me, since I have been with Cricket forever, and have no current plans to leave.
