I had the previous model for awhile. Absolutely stunning for games but text was just awful. I tried every cleartype and similar program available but I could not get anything that looked good with WOLED.

The "Tandem" in the name:

LG Tandem technology, specifically Primary RGB Tandem OLED, is a display architecture that uses stacked, independent red, green, and blue light-emitting layers instead of a single white light source filtered through color layers. This configuration increases brightness, efficiency, and lifespan while improving color accuracy compared to traditional WOLED panels. The four-layer design allows for dedicated light sources for each color, eliminating the need for color filters and making the entire panel more powerful and longer-lasting.

Well that's a shame! I was excited for these new tandem OLED monitors. Weird my tandem OLED iPad Pro doesn't have this problem. Must be a different layout

Besides the fact that they are likely talking about a non-tandem WOLED, 1440p 27" is a way lower pixel density than your iPad Pro. That greatly affects the text clarity as well.

4K OLEDs will have clearer text, but these tandem OLEDs are supposed to be better in this area, just not perfect.

Can the human eye even perceive 280hz? Isn't that supposed to be 280 frames per second? Which is more frames than milliseconds in a second. How is that even scientifically possible? Isn't that faster than the speed of light?

Keep in mind your competition has 480hz monitors. Do not buy the wrong monitor and ruin your pro gaming potential.

Are we still having this conversation in the year of our lord 2025?

High refresh rate displays are everywhere. Just test it yourself and it'll be extremely obvious the benefits.

And how is the speed of light relevant here? The refresh rate is the frequency at which the frames update. It does not speed up the rate at which the signal reaches your eyes.

Yes. Yes. There are 1000 milliseconds in one second. Technology called advanced TFTs. Speed of light is a distance measure, so I don't know.

I would say if someone asks that question, they are probably going to be fine with 60HZ IPS monitor

I think it's just that if the pixel per inch are high enough, then the pixel layout doesn't matter. Ipad pro is PPI of 264. This monitor would be a just 110.
