I agree. Apple fanboys will defend it. Can't even back up my phone with 256gb. Apple is a joke. A way to force people to pay for their overpriced upgrades.

Seriously $200 for 8gb upgrade. If the work you do requires upgrade from the base 16gb, just move up to the MacBook Pro. The base MacBook Air 13" M4 / 16gb / 256gb is where the value is at for $799.

Why would you backup your mobile phone to a mobile laptop, both of which can be lost or stolen?

Personally, even if RAM & storage were the same, I wouldnt get the Pro even if it was cheaper.
The lightness and thinness of the Air while still being super snappy is the whole appeal. Granted it gets hot in my lap but I dont want nor need a powerhouse MBP everywhere I go.

It's a good price for an m4 and 24gb.
Phone backups are done to iCloud

A small ssd is not bizarre for those that do a particular workflow on their laptop, and can comfortably fit it in 256GB. Similar discussions about the storage size of iPhones. Does one go for 256GB, 512GB, or the new 1TB on the iPhones? My advice- go for what fits in your day to day. Some people shoot a lot of video, and/or download a lot of movies. 1TB for them.

For everyone else, especially Aunt Bessie and Uncle Bob, 256GB iphone and mac air are just fine.

The 16GB version is $799, this is +$200 for 8GB more? I don't get that the good deal is?!
